From our sensational beachfront campsite in Lincoln Beach—front row! (An absolutely dreamy view… if only it weren’t so stormy and the ocean wasn’t raging quite so furiously. Jupiter loved it though, he got to run wild on the beach during our morning walk.)But waiting around here for better weather doesn’t seem worth it. The spot’s too expensive for that. Plus, the forecast for the next two weeks looks pretty miserable anyway, so it’s not like hanging around would help.

So we continue south along the coastal highway 101. The storm is so intense that after a fairly short drive, we decide not to go much further today. Our BamBus is very sensitive to wind, and driving a winding road right next to the sea in these conditions is... not exactly a joyride. So we head for the next campground. It’s super quiet and unbelievably cheap... we’re thrilled! So is Jupiter—he gets to chase some geese and ducks and run freely in the fenced-in area.

With so little movement today, though, I start to go stir-crazy in the camper after just a few minutes. So I decide to waddle off to the nearest supermarket on foot. I wait for the next break in the rain and head out. I tell Jan he shouldn’t even think about coming to look for me before an hour’s passed 😊

The store is surprisingly well-stocked and has some interesting products. (In hindsight, maybe it wasn’t that special—maybe it just seemed exciting after such an uneventful day. Thinking about it… yeah, that’s probably exactly what it was 😊). Still, I ended up buying a bunch of random stuff just because.

And of course—as soon as I leave the store—it starts pouring. Like, truly pouring. Heaven’s gates flung open. Dams burst. Raining cats and dogs. You get the picture.

Still, I carried the groceries back home on foot. The bag of chips I bought didn’t even make it past the doorstep of the BamBus before falling victim to sheer frustration. (But they were really good!)Somehow, we were exhausted from doing basically nothing. Or maybe because of it? Either way, I fell asleep without us ever cooking a proper dinner. (Pssst… poor Jupiter didn’t get his bowl either. So cruel!)

Today we're going through Navajo territory to Antelope Canyon. Luckily, some people told us the day before that you have to book time...
