It’s already been two weeks again since I fled Switzerland once more.
Jan and I reunited at the airport in Calgary, and not long after that, Jupiter finally returned to our lives too! There were definitely some happy tears 😊
A little test run couldn’t hurt, we told ourselves. So on March 7th, we hit the road for the first time. Or well... hit the tires! Our destination: skiing in Golden. We’d arranged to meet up with our former coworker Jaxon there. His girlfriend works at the hotel right on the ski hill, and after a day on the slopes, they invited us over for fondue. I mean, who could say no to that?
By the way, Jan personally brought the cheese and fondue pot all the way from Switzerland three weeks earlier and gifted it to Jaxon. Apparently, he wanted to christen it with us 😊
So off we go to the campground in Golden. It’s right next to a golf course, and it’s amazing how many (lost) golf balls you can find lying around. Someone clearly did not find them again... Strange world. In any case, our BamBus has since become home to, no joke, about 20 golf balls. (Jupi’s TREAASURE)
Skiing on Saturday wasn’t anything special—the snow was good, but that was about it. The weather was gray and snowy, and the wind on the chairlifts chilled you right to the bone.
Which made the hot shower afterward all the better—and of course, the evening with Jaxon, Maya, and the fondue! A classic ski day, straight out of a storybook.
Even better was the surprise when we tried to drive off from the parking lot... Wait, why aren’t we moving? What’s going on here? Actually, aren’t we... three meters behind where we started? Uh-oh...The ice had messed with us. Despite our supposedly top-notch winter tires… well… not so much.
A decision had to be made—sleep in the parking lot, or what? Jan quickly grabbed the little hatchet and started hacking the ice away from behind the tires. (Massive effort. Top-notch performance. Thanks, babe!)Anyway, I was able to safely maneuver the BamBus off the lot and down the hill after that.
